How do I call a second degree burn ... What is the difference between 2 and 3?
The lamp fell on my arm, I had no shadow .... lamp it was HOT to say the least, peeled back the skin on my arm. I've been using burn jell, neosporin and aloe. I let him off the air and keep it bandaged equal amounts of time. Any tips or tricks? Blah blah, go to the doctor, I know this is what most will say they can get two points, but I talked to my doctor, and they want me in so I can pay a $ 25 co-payment for them more than likely do the same thing .. ... probably give me a recipe ... any other ideas for a natural cure? Things to reduce scars? Etc? Thanks!
Sounds like a reasonable system. Check morning and night for evidence of infection on the subject. Take oral analgesics for pain relief. Burn care is a controversial subject and many different experts use different schemes wound, and many their work well. The neosporin is a reasonable thing to try to prevent infection. Some people say it slows the healing a little. The price you pay to avoid delaying healing is a slightly increased risk of infection. The difference between the second degree (deep partial thickness in the jargon again) and a third degree (full thickness) burns is that the thickness burn also burn the layer where the nerves are. It is classically leather and white (no blood supply). Nerves being burned means is true in anesthesia and you have no feeling there. A second degree (deep partial thickness burn) is often red, blistered and very painful. If you think you have a third degree burn, or if you are unsure, you must have a doctor to look at it because you may need a skin graft to correct the thickness burn.
