I have a moderate level of acne and have been prescribed Erythromycin tablets, should I take them? ?
ive also been instructed using 10% benzoyl peroxide facewash i want to know if it is effective, both short and long term, so far I've seen and heard mixed reviews that confused me please help me. In the past I ahd taken oxycyline and something called tetracycline, which did not work and I suffered from side effects. I was also told by my doctor I would refer to a skin clinic. If I be honest I think my face was gradually becoming clearer and if I take the pills could go back worse than ever
Starting at the bottom, the pills do not make you worse. Also, if your skin is in an acceptable state I agree that there is little if anything to take at this time. Both tetracycline and oxytetracycline are old drugs rarely used to manage acne today. The latest versions of the same group of drugs are however, the most popular choices of most doctors limecycline and minocycline. Doxycycline is also used, but I never chose because it has more side effects than the other two. The next choice, they are ineffective or not tolerated is indeed erythromycin. There are problems here too, with some of the salts have the effect of erythromycin more gastrointestinal side effects than others. Erythromycin succinate in my opinion was the best of the bunch.
